Maryann Besharat is Vice President, Legal Claims, Canada at Intact Financial Corporation. She oversees the Canadian Legal Claims team leading the country's largest in-house litigation team from coast to coast. Maryann’s strategic leadership promotes a people-first approach, fostering talent development and ensuring comprehensive, cohesive team dynamics. Her focus on efficiency enhances service quality while effectively implementing indemnity and legal expense controls.

A corporate lawyer by training, Maryann worked in private practice before joining Intact in 2010. She served as Vice President, Legal and Compliance, where she provided pragmatic guidance on legal and compliance matters while ensuring alignment with regulatory bodies. Diversifying her expertise, Maryann also held the position of Vice President, Human Resources in Ontario, Atlantic, and Western Canada, overseeing the delivery of best-in-class HR consulting services and support for Intact Insurance and Intact Prestige, in partnership with regional distribution teams.
