2026 Mid-Market Excellence Award Finalist

Philip de L. Panet is General Counsel of Waratah Capital Advisors Ltd., a Toronto asset manager. He was also Chief Operating Officer and Vice-President, Legal of Lithium Royalty Corp., a TSX-listed lithium royalty company, through its March 2023 initial public offering, until its acquisition by Altius Minerals in March 2026.

Mr. Panet has held senior roles in Canadian capital markets and asset management businesses for over two decades. From 2014 to 2022, he was Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of West Face Capital Inc. From 2008 to 2014, he served as Senior Counsel for UBS Securities Canada Inc., supporting Canadian investment banking and trading activities. Earlier, he was General Counsel of Amaranth Advisors (Canada) ULC and successor Moore Capital Advisors Canada ULC, and practised corporate and securities law at Torys LLP.

Mr. Panet holds a J.D. from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, graduating on the Dean's Honour List; an A.M. in Economics from Harvard University; and a B.Sc. in Economics from Trinity College, University of Toronto, where he was awarded the Lorne T. Morgan Gold Medal in Economics. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1998 and earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2000.
