Tim Hutzul is General Counsel of Canada Soccer, at a pivotal moment in its history as Canada prepares to co-host the FIFA World Cup 2026. Joining in early 2025, Tim quickly became a key player in Canada Soccer’s legal, commercial, governance, and stakeholder strategy—negotiating major sponsorships, international match and philanthropic agreements, resolving complex disputes, supporting board governance, as well as a variety of other confidential domestic and global matters. Tim played a crucial role in the landmark renewal of Canada Soccer’s long-term commercial rights agreement and in the ratification of collective bargaining agreements with the men’s and women’s national teams, which ensured equitable compensation and labor stability ahead of the World Cup.

Tim also serves pro bono advisor, board secretary and FIBA ethics representative for Canada Basketball, and as a director and chair of the audit committee for Pollution Probe reflecting his commitment to community leadership and Canadian Sport.

Previously, Tim was General Counsel and SVP, Legal at Mattr Corp. (MATR.TO) where he ledMattr’s global restructuring. A double graduate of UofT, Tim’s career has included Bay Street, domestic and global in-house industry roles, sports governance and public service.
